The law is pretty clear regarding the duties and obligations of an executor or executrix which is commonly also referred to as a fiduciary. We have fiduciary obligations to see that the wishes and directions of the deceased are carried out subject, of course, to the laws of the state of Connecticut and those laws are pretty clear as to what may be done and what may not be done and the lawyer will guide you through that process. Obviously, a layman isn’t familiar with all the laws and regulations relating to the probating of an estate and you also have to be very aware of and considerate of the concerns of beneficiaries of the estate, family members, creditors and sometimes other parties who just seem to come out from nowhere. So, meet with us. We’ll lay out your duties and your responsibilities, guide you through the process, make sure you don’t get yourself into trouble when you’re trying to do the right thing and we’ll make it as painless as possible.
